Meet Char Mills!

Modern Maison Company is a home and living brand birthed by Char Mills. A devoted wife to Patrick and mother to London, Logan & Liam – Char is a home cook, educator & momprenuer. Mastered with an MBA from Wayne State University in Marketing & Management, she sought to use her knowledge in business to create a brand that embodies her experiences. Blessed to be homemaker for the last 13 years, she desires to inspire & share her discoveries of all things home.  

Char was born into a creole cooking family.  One of her fondest memories is sitting around the table peeling garlic for a big gumbo feast.  Gumbo was a way of bringing everyone together for a special meal. It was a big to-do as many ingredients were needed to produce that amazingly authentic Louisiana flavor. Her passion for food and authentic flavors were spawned as a little girl and this love continues to radiate in her cooking today.  

As a supplier, Char endeavors to sell high quality home goods for everyday use. She has an affinity for the latest and greatest kitchen utensils and superior home goods. As an educator, Char’s desire is to impart the love of cooking quality food to our youth.  She believes in eating nutrient dense food and limiting consumption of processed frankenfood. Her children were her first students.  Currently a virtual cooking instructor at an Elementary school near Flint, Michigan she is educating the underserved and disadvantaged youth, providing cooking instruction and implementation of mathematical skills.  Utilizing a contextual learning theory, Kitchen Math empowers our youth to forge lasting connections between mathematics and the culinary arts.  

While raising three beautiful & balanced children, Char,  a supplier and artisan, has maintained cooking classes for the community, created her own products and spice blends and continues to strive to grow Modern Maison Co into a home & living lifestyle.  More to come!
